I got my hands on some great alpaca recycled from a sweater in a recent barter arrangement. It was plain cream and is now much more interesteing.

This one came out much bluer than the other skein.
It was a bit of a happy accident, since the original color I was shooting for was a pale green. I got that on the other skein, but in this batch some of my blue dye wasn’t fully dissolved. This led to a few very dark blue patches on the yarn. Unplanned, but it looked very cool. I ended up over-dyeing portions of it by hand painting in order to get the color variation even spread through out the yarn. What resulted is a highly variegated blue and green that reminds me of the ocean.
With some of the lighter skein (which I forgot to take pictures of before using) I knit up a simple mobius scarf.

It looks very blue in the photos, but looks much greener in person. The base color is a light sea foam green, and there’s lots of teal through out.
I had some nice green and pink 50/50 angora/wool that I’d dyed up this weekend, but when I got back from Seattle i found that my brothers dog had found it in it’s plastic bag, ripped it open, and dragged the yarn around the house and yard. *sigh*
The good news was she didn’t get the blue faced leicester I’d also dyed.

I wanted something that would capture the feeling of the sunsets that we saw while driving over the pass between Montana and Idaho. I’ll probably do a few more with this idea in mind, since I’d also love to attempt the complex blues and purples that were also visible.
